Good WoO Weekend for Jill!
5/19/2010 -
This past weekend Jill traveled to Delmar, Delaware and Hagerstown, Maryland for World of Outlaws series races. The Delware International Speedway was a tough one to figure out in Jill’s first attempt at that facility. Add to that the new Rocket and all there is to figure out and some tough luck, made it a long nite. The car was not good early and timed poorly. After figuring out some set up changes, Jill started the heat race 8th, had the car to 5th and then got hit in the face with a rock or mud clod and was knocked out briefly. She was running 4th in the B main when she cut down a right side tire. She started 23rd in a provisional spot for the feature and had a flat left rear, and when she reentered the track got hit by a car that had been stopped, who decided to make a u-turn on the front straightaway. All in all, a tough nite, but a WoO feature made.
At Hagerstown on Saturday night, the news was better. Jill timed 30th of 39 cars, started the heat race outside 4th row, and finished 7th. She started the B main outside 4th row and finished 5th, two spots out of a transfer spot. She again got a WoO provisional, and started 24th. She made all 50 laps, finished 16th, a lap down. She had a great run, got better and better as the night wore on. She gained invaluable experience, got a ton of compliments from WoO officials and racers alike, and made big progress.
Jill stands 14th in WoO points at this time and is preparing for Bedford, PA and Mineral Wells, WV on Memorial Day weekend. This weekend Jill will race her ASA asphalt car at Hawkeye Downs on Friday and the Barry Wright at Dubuque on Sunday. A motor change and carb change is upcoming for the new Rocket, and all of that should be ready for the next WoO trip.
Thank you for your support of Jill George Racing!
